National Recycling Standards

Recycling is something that is now a part of all our lives to some degree. We have come along way from the odd bottle bank in the local car park. In some respects we have regressed over the years; there is far less composting of biodegradable waste today than there was even 20 years ago. In the same time period we have seen an exponential increase in the amount of plastic used for packaging; supermarket food being the worst offender. There are many organisations out there and local schemes that could help us and deserve our support. Also it is only by showing our local authorities and big businesses that enough of us care about these issues that we will be able to affect the change we deserve. Also I want every local council and local authority to collect the following things from our homes for recycling; cardboard; glass; plastic bottles; cans and newspapers. My local authority refuse to collect glass and where my parents live the council won't collect plastic bottles. It would be good to start to get a picture of what is going on council by council and see who the worst offenders are. Please join this issue because I need people to start to discuss the situation where they live. Please sign up if you've got any suggestions for how we can improve things.
